Volunteering and Work Experience
We love sharing our Sylvan sparkle with others.
If you are thinking of applying to the school to undertake work experience or carry out any volunteering in preparation for a course of training with children, or as part of normal work experience with a school, please send a formal request by email to Mrs Steele, Deputy Head of School, stating your course details, reason for applying, contact details, etc. The school email address can be found on the front page of our website.
We are a very popular school with other local secondary schools and collages and have weekly requests for student placements and others who would like to volunteer. With this in mind, sometimes it might not be possible to accept all requests received. Thank you for your understanding.
All applicants will require DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance and this will be required before any work placement or volunteering can commence. Applicants will also need to provide the names of two referees who will provide character references to support your suitability for volunteering. The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps to make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. Details of how to obtain your DBS clearance can be obtained by telephoning the school office on or popping in to collect the relevant paperwork.
